DESCRIPTION:

Sandtray is an expressive arts tool that is valuable for working with clients across the lifespan. This training is designed for the therapist who has an advanced knowledge and experience in the use of sandtray.  This training will focus on the person of the therapist and how to use sandtray within the framework of the clinician’s theoretical orientation. Experiential activities are an integral part of the training. Participants will build and process multiple sandtrays during the 2 day training. Lecture, group and didactic experiences are part of the training.  Participation in experiential activities will give clinicians the tools and experience to use in working with their clients immediately.

 Participants must have completed a prior sandtray training to enroll in this training.

PRESENTED BY:

Kay Pantier, MSE, MS, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S™, has 16 years of practice as a licensed counselor working with children and families. She has a Master’s degree in education from the University of Central Arkansas and a Master’s degree in counseling and marriage and family therapy from John Brown University. Kay specializes in working with complex trauma and attachment. She additionally has 25 years as an educator in public schools where she was a teacher and administrator. Kay is a counselor, trainer and supervisor. She has a diversity of training in EMDR, Level 1 Theraplay, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and Emotion Focused Therapy. She utilizes a foundation of attachment theory and neurosciences in the healing process. Sandtray therapy is an integral part of her counseling and training. Kay is a member of the Arkansas and Northwest Arkansas Mental Health

Professionals, The World Association of Sand Therapy Professionals and The Association for Play Therapy. She previously served as an adjunct professor for John Brown University in the graduate counseling program where she taught play therapy classes.

Due to the presenter's credentials, this training will be conducted under the ACA code of ethics, the AAMFT code of ethics and  the APT Best Practices.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Participants will evaluate the use of Sandtray in Play Therapy and counseling with specific issues  

2. Participants will analyze case studies and case conceptualization  

3. Participants will create experiential sandtrays that can be incorporated in Play Therapy and counseling  

4. Participants will identify the brain processes activated in sandtray  

5. Participants will identify the use of the Window of Tolerance and Zones of Regulation in Sandtray in Play Therapy and Counseling  

6. Participants will examine how ethical principles play a part in utilizing sandtray in play therapy and counseling  

7. Participants will examine the use of Sandtray in Counseling and Play  Therapy into selected counseling theories   

8. Participants will identify their counseling theory and integrate Sandtray into their current counseling theory  

9. Participants will examine how ethical principles play a part in utilizing sandtray in Play Therapy and Counseling   

10. Participants will evaluate the use of Sandtray  in Play Therapy and Counseling with special populations  

11. Participants will evaluate the use of Sandtray in Play Therapy and Counseling with groups   

12. Participants will construct experiential sandtrays that can be incorporated in Play Therapy and Counseling

IMPORTANT POLICIES:

Workshop Withdrawal:

Withdrawal requests should be submitted by email to training@watersedgecounselingnwa.com no later than 7 calendar days prior to the scheduled workshop date in order to receive a full refund of the paid workshop fee. Withdrawal requests that are submitted after 7 calendar days prior to the scheduled workshop date will not be refunded.

Participants who do not attend a workshop and do not submit a withdrawal request as outlined in the previous section prior to the completion of the workshop will not receive a refund. All refunds are processed within 7 business days of the completion of the workshop.

Workshop Cancellation:

Water’s Edge Counseling, Play Therapy & Training DBA   (Rising Tide Training Room) reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to insufficient enrollment,  inclement weather, instructor illness, or instructor family emergency. Water’s Edge Counseling, Play Therapy & Training will email workshop students at least 5 calendar days in advance of the scheduled workshop date to notify students of the cancellation. Notice will be provided with the option to reschedule for a future course date or to receive a full refund of paid workshop fees.

Grievance Policy:

Concerns should be addressed to Water’s Edge Counseling, Play Therapy & Training DBA   (Rising Tide Training Room)), 204 S. 24th Street, Rogers, AR 72756 or 1-479-621-0301 or emailed to training@watersedgecounselingnwa.com. When a complaint, either verbally or written, is filed Water’s Edge Counseling, Play Therapy & Training DBA   (Rising Tide Training Room), the following guidelines are followed with respect to achieving resolution:

Complaints relative to a speaker or workshop leader, contents of instructional materials being presented, or an individual education style being utilized, the person bringing the complaint should first address concerns with the presenter. If the presenter is not available, all comments should be placed in writing and sent to training@watersedgecounselingnwa.com. If complaints concerning the facility, or CEU's, they should be emailed to training@watersedgecounselingnwa.com or mailed to 204 S 24th Street, Rogers, AR 72758. The Director of Education will attempt to resolve the matter in a timely manner. If the offer of resolution is not satisfactory to the person filing the complaint, then further action may be taken. In this instance, a written request for reconsideration can be sent to the attention of the Director of Education. The complaint will then be reviewed by the Director of Education and members of the training committee. A written response will be issued within 30 days of receipt of the written complaint. The decision of the Director of Education is final.
