Waters Edge Counseling, Play Therapy & Training was founded by Ms. Barton in 2017 with the mission of providing a comfortable, atmosphere for providing counseling for all ages. The goal was to offer highly trained therapists in a variety of different counseling styles and backgrounds to meet the needs of the different populations that we serve. We now have 4 offices covering all Northwest Arkansas. Our offices are in Bentonville, Rogers, Siloam Springs, and Fayetteville. Another aspect of the organization is to offer continuing education trainings to clinicians. We have a training facility in our Rogers office to offer a spacious place for community meetings, or clinical trainings. The training facility is affectionately called The WEDGE which is an acronym for Waters Edge Develops Growth and Education. The training room has been used for a place for outreach to our first responders, educators, and for parenting classes. The WEDGE has also hosted local as well as, nationally and internationally known trainers in the areas of Play Therapy, and Trauma. We host a yearly training for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) the number one recommend modality from trauma treatment. The WEDGE also offers a yearly free training for private and public-school educators for recognizing the effects of trauma have on the cognitive ability, behaviors and emotions of our students.

Though she is no longer seeing clients, having a positive impact on the lives of others is top priority. That is accomplished by working daily to provide a fun, comfortable, work environment where self-care for the staff and clinicians are of the utmost importance. Terrie’s belief is that if the clinicians are well taken care of than they will be better equipped and in a better mental health to provide the best care that they possibly can for their clients.
