LPC and Registered Play Therapist
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. I began my professional journey by earning a bachelors degree in Psychology from College of the Ozarks. I then worked as a mental health paraprofessional and counseling intern during my graduate school years. I earned my masters degree from John Brown University, where my areas of study were marriage and family therapy, community counseling, and play therapy. Additionally, I have training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
I have experience in working in a variety of settings including therapeutic day treatment, therapeutic preschool, school based, community counseling, and in private practice. I have a passion for working with children and their families and believes that a positive client-therapist relationship is essential for success in therapy. I generally use play therapy as my main modality of treatment but does also utilize EMDR techniques and a client centered approach depending on the needs of each client.
I have experience in helping children to heal from trauma, improve family relationships, improve communication and interactions, increase mood management, and to help children learn how to positively respond to big emotions and have adaptive responses. I also work closely with caregivers to provide support and strategies that they can use at home with their children.
In my free time, I can be found spending time with my husband and two giant dogs. I love to travel to any warm and sandy destination, make memories with my family, and have an active lifestyle. I am also a huge lover of animals and will always stop to let turtles cross the road.
