Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Registered Play Therapists
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist. I earned my Master’s of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas in 2009, I received my license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2011 and became a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) in 2017. I previously worked as a school-based therapist in Arkansas and Oklahoma before working at a private group practice in Texas. While in Oklahoma, I led an internship program for junior therapists completing their undergraduate and graduate coursework. In addition, I facilitated parenting classes within my school-based environment to help empower the parents of my clients and to maximize the positive impact in the lives of their children, and ultimately their families as a whole. Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked at a children’s home where I primarily provided case management services for students in foster care. I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Play Therapy, and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy.
I work with children, adolescents, adults and families, specializing in play therapy and EMDR to address a variety of needs including trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, ADHD, anger management, and parenting skills.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship between a client and a therapist is essential to success in counseling; I am passionate about creating a safe environment for clients where they can work through their emotions and experiences to reach their therapeutic goals. I use a client-centered approach that allows the client to have an experience that is based on their individual needs, with an emphasis on helping clients develop effective coping skills through the therapy process.
On a personal note, I grew up in Northwest Arkansas but have been in Oklahoma and Texas for the last 7 years. My family and I recently returned to NWA and are excited to be back! I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two sons. You will often find us at the soccer fields or playing outside with our dog, Ollie. I enjoy watching the Razorbacks, watching movies, listening to live music, cooking and relaxing with family and friends.
