Registered Play Therapist
My journey began many years ago in Missouri. I grew up outside of Jefferson City, and earned my BS degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia. I am the youngest of three, and the only girl. We were the typical dysfunctional family, and I developed poor relationship skills. Like all of us, I learned to deal with fears/stress on my own. Through the years I experienced abuse, neglect, bullying, abandonment, fear, anxiety, challenges, failure, grief & loss, anger, rage, betrayal, rejection, mistrust, disappointment, depression; just to name a few.
It was when my greatest fear became a reality that my life journey changed forever. After 20 years of increased arguing, three miscarriages, one tubal pregnancy, and a total shut down of communication, my husband filed for divorce. I was devastated as he was my whole world and that life was over.
Hope is the only thing stronger than fear. I fell asleep sobbing, confused and scared of what I was going to do with my life. I woke up at 3:00 in the morning with a voice clearly stating 'counseling'. I felt a rush of joy as I realized that all the pain I experienced was necessary to prepare me for my true purpose.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.. It was only by faith that I began my journey by attending John Brown University to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. In addition, I trained in the area of play therapy to receive the certificate of Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor. That was 13 years ago and I have been practicing for the past nine years in the schools and private practice.
My therapeutic goal is to share what I have learned to help others understand and repair their brokenness. Renewed hope with healthier ways of handling fear/stress.
